It's not often that a creator's unsung work gets a chance to be noticed decades after his demise.

Luckily for us, the great musical genius Madan Mohan was never 'unsung'. His muse and primary vocalist Lata Mangeshkar ensured an infinite status for the gems of Madan Mohan.

And the ones that got left behind due to the tyranny of budget and the vagaries of production are now going to be put together by his son, 34 years after Madan Mohan passed away prematurely at the age of 51 leaving behind a treasury of released and unreleased songs.

Madan Mohan's son, Sanjeev Kohli, former CEO of Yash Raj Films is all set to release some of Madan Mohan's unreleased songs in an album entitled 'Tere Bagair'.

Says Sanjeev, "My father would be creating and humming new tunes all the time His music sittings with Lataji were endless. As a child, I'd often wonder how my father managed to create so many tunes in so little time. To my delight I discovered hundreds of unreleased tunes in our cupboard. That's how 'Tere Bagair' was born."

The 15 tracks that comprise the album are sung by Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Talat Mahmood and Kishore Kumar and were recorded between 1964 and 1972. To erase all signs of antiquity, Sanjeev has added supportive music and digitally mastered sound to the original tunes.

'Tere Bagair' releases on June 25 on the occasion of Madan Mohan's 85th death anniversary.

It is a moment of delight that we get to hear the creations of one of the greatest composers, Shri Madam Mohan Ji, after having heard the melodies in 'Veer Zaara'which was a treat to ears, as after a long gap came something one could hear again and again ... just play on.

Right up from there, the legend must be quite at peace to see that his son and with the efforts of Yash Raj Music,as we know the brain behind all this i.e. yash Raj Ji himself, who has got a great love for some great music, melodies...

Thank you Sanjeev Ji, thank you Yash Raj sahab for bringing the melodies to us...to soothe and reminisce the old charm of melodies....

Long Live the Legend ... !
