Slumdog, Rahman sweep Oscar nominations

The Anil Kapoor, Irrfan Khan, Dev Patel and Freida Pinto starrer has been getting a lot of raves ever since it made its turns at leading film festivals across the world. It bagged four Golden Globe awards in the same categories as its Oscar nods (and one for A R Rahman for Best Original Score). The film will release in India on January 23.

Slumdog has been nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay (Simon Beaufoy), Best Picture, Best Original Score (A R Rahman), Best Song (One each for Jai Ho and O Saya), Best editing, Best Sound Mixing (Resul Pookutty), Best Sound Editing (Resul Pookutty), Best Cinematography and Best Director (Danny Boyle) at the Oscars.

Indian music maestro A.R. Rahman has become the first Indian to get three Oscar nominations, including one for best original score for the film "Slumdog Millionaire" and for two songs in the film - "Jai ho" and "O saya"
