Big B creates history with Ilaiyaraja

And he did it at Aadesh Shrivastava's studio two weeks ago, rendering the track sent by Ilaiyaraja to perfect in a 12-year old's voice. The Big B, privately regretted the fact that he couldn't record in the maestro Ilaiyaraja's presence. But how was the Big B or the director Balki to know that the recording in Mumbai would go kaput?

Aamir's Paa and Maa moments for '3 Idiots'

And has done so again by choosing to release the music of his upcoming film "3 Idiots" online and getting the parents of composer Shantanu Moitra and lyricist Swanand Kirkire to grace the event. Though he is not the producer or the director, Aamir was instrumental in organising the music release of the much awaited film. Moitra and Kirkire are touched by the actor's gesture to call their parents instead of a Bollywood biggie to launch the music.

Bollywood is surely smitten by Sufi music as composers churn out chartbusters by weaving its melodious flavour into their songs. The divine strains of Sufi music in film songs have become a huge hit with listeners and music directors are cashing in on its increasing popularity. Most soundtracks today boast of at least one Sufi song and they are popular among all age groups -- from seasoned music lovers to youngsters.

Rahman mesmerises Kolkata audience

Kolkata, Nov 15 (IANS) Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman captivated thousands here with his mellifluous tunes comprising hip-hop, funk and jazz. A huge audience at the Salt Lake stadium Saturday was left yearning for more after the three-hour live "Jai Ho" concert of the maestro who presented a delightful cocktail of hard rock, rap and Arabian music. Oriental music fused with western as Rahman unfolded his wide range of compositions with singers like Hariharan and Sadhana Sargam.

Kailash Kher on multi-city tour in the US

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IANS) Kailash Kher is busy entertaining his fans in the US these days. The Indian singer, known for his soulful renditions has gone for a six-day multi-city tour. "I am going to the US to perform at various places with my troupe there," Kher told IANS before leaving. The singer, who is known for his songs "Teri Deewani" and "Allah Ke Bande" apart from others, left for the US late Saturday night. His tour began Sunday in Atlanta.
