Sonu Nigam enthrals Dhaka audience

Dhaka, Aug 8 (IANS) Singer Sonu Nigam enthralled the audience with some of his popular songs at a concert here. Leading the 19-member team of musicians, the singer began the show Thursday evening with "Suraj hua madhyam" and followed it up with "Mera rangdir", "Mera haat me tera haat ho", "Ghum shudha", "Aaja Soniye", "Duniya he tere piche" and "Sathiya". The singer said that though this was his second visit to the country, it was his first show there. "Bangladesh is the second country that I like after Bahrain," New Age newspaper quoted him as saying.

'Kishore Kumar would've been a hit even today'

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) Versatile singer Kishore Kumar would have celebrated his 79th birthday Monday, had he been alive. And the film fraternity believes the singer-actor would have been a hit with audiences even today. Most Bollywood personalities agree that Kishore Kumar was ahead of his time. Even the new generation of singers and composers think so. "I often wonder how Kishore Kumar, who innovated so much in his time, would have would have innovated today in Bollywood film music,” said composer Monty Sharma of "Saawariya" fame.

Mumbai, Aug 4 (IANS) After working with three generations of music directors and writing more than 6,000 songs, lyricist Sameer says working with music directors like Anand-Milind and Nadeem-Shravan was the golden era of his professional life. "Anand-Milind and Nadeem Shravan will always be special to me. Those were the times when I enjoyed working most and produced the best of my creations," Sameer, who has been writing lyrics for 25 years now, told IANS.

After 'Saawariya' success, composer Monty Sharma is a busy bee

Mumbai, Aug 3 (IANS) Monty Sharma, the composer who made it big with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Saawariya", has joined the league of successful music directors and is scoring music for 21 films. "I'm composing for as many as 21 films - some will release this year and some will come out next year," Monty told IANS. Monty, who is also judging the reality show "Voice Of India", added: "My days are really hectic as I have to do my regular work and judge the show. But, I have planned my days - five days for my work, one day for 'Voice of India' and one day for my wife."

Toronto whiz kid adds North American flavour to Bollywood

Toronto, Aug 3 (IANS) Vikas Kohli, who is the latest Indian-Canadian to enter Bollywood with his hit song "Apun Ke Saath" in the recently released thriller "Mission Istaanbul", says he wants to make it big in Indian showbiz. "Now that I have done this wonderful song, I would love to bring my music - across a variety of genres, including punk, rock, hip hop, jazz, metal and classical - to Bollywood," Kohli told IANS in an interview. A former investment banker who now owns FatLabs music studio here, Kohli said he was approached by Mika Singh to do the song for "Mission Istaanbul".
